NEOM McLaren team return to Bicester after Victory in Sao Paulo E-Prix
The NEOM McLaren Fully Electic team held a race debrief at their Bicester base today after their triumph in São Paulo on Saturday.
Driver Sam Bird ended his 37 race winless streak to give NEOM McLaren their first Formula E victory, after a last-gasp overtake in the final lap of the 25-lap race in high temperatures.
Bird is now the second-oldest Formula E race winner at 37 years and 67 days – behind ABT CUPRA’s Lucas di Grassi – with the Brit claiming “there's still life in the old dog yet, but I think I have used all my talent up there.”
“What a race that was, that was great,” Bird exclaimed after the race. “It means so much for everybody at NEOM McLaren. I think everybody can now see the progress that is slowly happening.”
In 2022, NEOM announced a strategic partnership with McLaren Racing to become the title partner of the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team and NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team racing teams. NEOM McLaren Electric Racing have been operating from their base at Bicester Heritage since 2022.
