Changes to bus services in Cherwell Valley

Stagecoach have announced changes to services running in Cherwell Valley from 29th August 2021.



500 - from Banbury to Brackley via Middleton Cheney and Radstone Fields

This service is going to be operating more early morning and late evening journeys on 500, with journeys via Chacombe continuing to run every hour during the day.

Journeys via Banbury Gateway will be replaced by more trips on service B9, and you will need to connect onto the S4 in Banbury Bus Station to travel to Horton Hospital.

B9 - Hardwick to Banbury Gateway via Banbury town centre

Stagecoach will be operating additional morning journeys on the B9 to Banbury Gateway to replace those no longer operated by 500.

New under 19 7 day MegaRider tickets

The following tickets will be introduced and made available to buy online (on Smartcard) and on the Stagecoach Bus App.


  • Under 19 7 day Banbury MegaRider - £10.00

  • Under 19 7 day Banbury MegaRider Plus - £15.00

  • Under 19 7 day Oxford MegaRider - £11.00

  • Under 19 7 day Oxford MegaRider Plus - £15.00

  • Under 19 7 day Oxford MegaRider Country - £15.00

  • Under 19 7 day Oxford MegaRider Gold - £22.00

Service 27 and 28 contract change in Bicester from Sunday 29th August 2021

Stagecoach have been given notice from Oxfordshire Council that they will no longer be contracted to operate services 27 and 28. The last day that Stagecoach will be operating this service will be from 28th August. Service 28 will be replaced by service 17, and 27 will operate a revised timetable, both of which will be operated by Red Rose from that date. Oxfordshire County Council have confirmed that passengers that have already bought 7 Day / 28 Day / 13 Week MegaRider's to travel specifically on these services will not be valid on the replacement services.
