Bicester Cricketers keeping score thanks to sports fund backed by former England cricketer Darren Gough

[PR] Fund Support Bowls Over Bicester and North Oxford Cricketers

Budding Ben Stokes and Lauren Bells in Bicester and North Oxford will have no problems keeping track of the score thanks to a new sports fund backed by former England cricketer Darren Gough.

The £75,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund aims to support teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network, which spans 26 counties.

Thanks to the fund, Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club have taken possession of a new electronic scoreboard so supporters can keep an accurate tally of how many points are scored during matches.

Bicester & North Oxford Chairman Gary Sansome said: “We’re really grateful to Gigaclear’s Rural Sports Club Fund for helping towards our new digital scoreboard. It’s a great asset for the club and has enabled us to deliver an enhanced and professional experience to all our members who play at the ground. With this modern electronic scoreboard, we now have an integrated scoring and live YouTube streaming platform - thanks to Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband - all of which helps boost the club’s profile.”

Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club and I wish them every success in the coming season. I believe the fund is helping make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.

The Club was established in 1996 and play home fixtures at their ground in Akerman Street, Chesterton. The club, whose 1st XI team play in the ECB Home Counties Premier League, is keen to attract players of all ages and abilities.

More than 4,000 homes and businesses in communities around Bicester and north Oxford, including Launton, Langford, and Ambrosden are now able to access Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband offering ultrafast speeds up to 900Mbps. For more details, visit Gigaclear.com
